About

I hold a PhD in Communication and Science Studies from the University of California, San Diego and am currently a Postdoctoral “Water” Fellow with the Center for the Humanities at the University of California, Merced. I have a long-standing interest in the connections between global environments and everyday cultures of consumption and waste. In July 2011 I joined scientists, artists and filmmakers sailing from Hawaii to Vancouver conducting research on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and continue to blog about related issues here.
